How is the gold rate in Oman calculated?
The Omani rial is pegged to the US dollar at 0.3845, so the gold rate in Oman follows the international price directly. Price per gram = gold price per ounce in USD ÷ 31.1035 × 0.3845 × purity. Prices are shown with three decimals (baisa).
The Omani rial is fixed to the dollar (0.3845) and is one of the highest-valued currencies in the world, so the gram price in rials is a small number shown with three decimals.

Source of the prices
Gold dealers in Oman follow the international price live. Because the rial is pegged to the dollar, differences between shops come from making charges and buy-back margins, not from the gold price itself. The method is explained on our methodology page (Arabic).
